  The choice of 15 September for the International Day of Democracy corresponds to the adoption in September 1997 by the IPU of a Universal Declaration on Democracy.
  
  The 15 September is selected as world democracy day in 1997 by IPU of a Universal Declaration on Democracy.
  
  The IPU celebrates 15 September as International Day of Democracy by doing some special activities on that day.
